 Gli israeliani respingono l’attacco di Netanyahu contro i loro servizi segreti

Migliaia di israeliani hanno protestato a Gerusalemme, radunandosi fuori dal complesso governativo dove si è riunito il gabinetto, contro la decisione senza precedenti del governo del Primo Ministro Benjamin Netanyahu, su richiesta del Ministro della Giustizia Yariv Levin, di licenziare sia il Procuratore Generale (Attorney General) Gali Baharav-Miara che il Capo del servizio di sicurezza dello Shin Bet Ronen Bar.

Il Procuratore Generale di Israele chiede di estendere l’ordine contro il licenziamento del capo dello Shin Bet, e sostiene che ci sono significativi difetti nella decisione del governo, affermando che il governo cerca di essere al di sopra della legge.

L’estromissione del capo dello Shin Bet, seguita dal congelamento della decisione da parte dell’Alta Corte di Giustizia e dalla dichiarazione del Primo Ministro e dei suoi ministri che avrebbero sfidato l’ordine della corte anche a costo di una crisi costituzionale, ha segnato l’inizio di una settimana critica per la continua esistenza di Israele come paese democratico.

I manifestanti portavano un grande cartello con la scritta: “Un sospettato non licenzia un investigatore”, considerando che la rottura dell’indipendenza delle istituzioni chiave dello Stato e lo smantellamento dei sistemi di controllo e limitazione del potere del governo, che chiamano i “guardiani della democrazia”, ​​provocheranno una completa trasformazione del carattere del paese.

In una lettera aperta, ex giudici e presidenti della Corte Suprema israeliana hanno manifestato la propria opposizione al piano del governo, affermando che mette a repentaglio l’esistenza di Israele come Stato di diritto.

Noam Dan, cugino dell’ostaggio liberato Ofer Kalderon, si è rivolto a Netanyahu ed al suo governo come a un Primo Ministro arrogante, ubriaco, e disconnesso, e ad una banda di spregevoli cheerleader che hanno preso in ostaggio il paese, Netanyahu però, invece di rispettare le sentenze della Corte Suprema contro la sua decisione, parla di complotto dello “Stato profondo” (“Deep State”). Il ministro della sicurezza nazionale Ben Gvir ha addirittura denunciato apertamente un colpo di stato dello Shin Bet, che avrebbe ascoltato alti funzionari del servizio carcerario e della polizia per indagare su di lui.

Secondo quanto riferito, il Capo di Stato Maggiore delle Forze Armate Israeliane (IDF), tenente generale Eyal Zamir, e il Capo del Mossad David Barnea hanno tentato di separare fisicamente Ben Gvir e Ronen Bar quando sembrava che Ben Gvir stesse per strangolare fisicamente il Capo dello Shin Bet.

Nel frattempo, l’ufficio del primo ministro di Netanyahu sta diffondendo accuse contro Bar, che includono menzogne ​​complete, come l’affermazione che Bar era a conoscenza in anticipo del massacro del 7 ottobre, e che ha intenzionalmente evitato di svegliare Netanyahu nel cuore della notte. Thousands of Israelis protested in Jerusalem, gathering outside the government compound where the cabinet met, against the unprecedented decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, at the request of Justice Minister Yariv Levin, to fire both Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Shin Bet Security Service Chief Ronen Bar.

Israel’s Attorney General called for an extension of the order against the Shin Bet chief’s dismissal, arguing that there are significant flaws in the government’s decision, with the government trying to be above the law.

The ousting of Shin Bet chief – followed by the High Court of Justice’s freeze on the decision, and the prime minister and his ministers’ declaration that they would defy the court order, even at the cost of a constitutional crisis – marked the beginning of a week that’s critical for Israel’s continued existence as a democratic country.

The protesters carried a large sign that read: “A suspect does not fire an investigator,” considering that the breakdown of the independence of key state institutions and the dismantling of the systems of checks and limitations on the government’s power, which they call the “guardians of democracy,” will cause a complete transformation of the country’s character.

In an open letter, former judges and presidents of the Israeli Supreme Court expressed
their opposition to the government’s plan, saying it endangers Israel’s existence as a state
of law.

Noam Dan, cousin of freed hostage Ofer Kalderon, referred to Netanyahu and his government as an arrogant, drunk, and disconnected prime minister and a band of despicable cheerleaders who have taken the country hostage. Meanwhile, Egypt advanced a compromise proposal in which the two sides will return to a multiple-stage deal, with five living hostages and five bodies released, in return for resuming the cease-fire. Reportedly both Hamas and the Trump administration have responded positively to this proposal, but no official Israeli response has been provided so far.

Netanyahu, however, instead of respecting the Supreme Court’s rulings against his decision, speaks of a “Deep State” conspiracy. National Security Minister Ben Gvir even openly denounced a coup by the Shin Bet, which allegedly interviewed senior officials from the prison service and the police to investigate him. 

The IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and Mossad head David Barnea reportedly tried to physically separate Ben Gvir and Ronen Bar when It seemed like Ben Gvir was apparently about to physically choke the head of the Shin Bet.

Meantime, Netanyahu’s Prime Minister’s Office is spreading accusations against Bar – which included complete lies, such as the claim Bar knew in advance about the October 7 massacre and intentionally avoided waking Netanyahu up in the middle of the night. In meetings and security consultations held since then in which Bar participated, Netanyahu has demonstratively ignored Bar’s comments and has even stared at the ceiling while he spoke.
